Check out all the details we put together for my cousin and his fiancée’s spring themed couple’s shower brunch.
I had the fun opportunity to work with my aunt to throw a spring themed couple’s shower brunch for my cousin and his sweet fiancée.
I have a few years of planning and hosting kid parties under my belt (check out some of our other parties) but this was my first attempt at a more sophisticated gathering. I am happy with how everything came together.
It is always a team effort when it comes to Gray House Studio projects or parties and I could not have done it without Brent. He brought to life some of the key decor pieces that I had dreamed up that really made this shower special.
We have a complete list at the bottom of the post with the sources for everything we made and bought for this spring themed couple’s shower.

Couple’s Shower Details
My grandmother ordered these pretty eucalyptus watercolor invitations before I joined the couple’s shower planning committee. I liked them so much I thought it would be nice to make the rest of the couple’s shower decor fit around this simple spring theme. Since it was a couple’s shower we decided not to go with anything too girly.
My aunt booked a room at The Union Kitchen (Kingwood location) for the shower and I must give them all the high fives.
We came in wanting to change up the room quite a bit and they were more than accommodating in letting us move existing decor, move the tables around, close doors so we could put up a large photo booth and connect to their TV and WIFI so we could play a game using the TV.
At one point one of the nice staff members helping us had the idea to use command strips to hide the long HDMI cord we needed to connect our laptop to the TV to make it more aesthetically pleasing and was up on the ladder herself taking care of it.
The entire staff that was working with us was friendly and helpful and made setting up easy and provided excellent service during the party.
If you are local to Houston I highly recommend hosting an event or just eating at The Union Kitchen. The service and food are amazing.
When guests entered the room we had a felt letter board welcome sign set up on the bar area instructing guests to find their name tag, grab a game packet (more on these down below but they were my favorite thing I made for the couple’s shower) and pick a seat.
We didn’t want to have assigned seating so we had guests take their name tag and then set it down at a place setting where they wanted to sit.
This way they could put their belongings down, get up and mingle, play “Find a Guest Bingo”, take photos at the photo booth but still had a place to come back to when it was time to eat.
For the table decor at our spring themed couple’s shower my aunt and I decided just a few simple pieces would go a long way. Faux succulents with Spanish moss in terra-cotta pots lined the tables along with tea light candles and faux green vines on a burlap runner.
I love these glass lanterns my aunt picked out to be part of the table decor. We planned on putting flowers in them but after a test run we found we loved the simplicity of the green sea glass at the bottom more.
These lanterns were also the prizes for the guests that won the couple’s shower games.
What would brunch be without mimosas!?
On the fireplace mantle we displayed out custom made signs and decor pieces.
I designed a Lauren & Matthew logo for the couple’s shower because I just like making logos for parties. I wanted to incorporate it in various places throughout the decor.
Brent laser cut my design and made this beautiful wood sign that we gave them after the shower was over.
I also made a mini version of my hula hoop photo display to hang a few of the couple’s adorable engagement photos. For my mini photo display I used a floral hoop and attached lace ribbon and greenery.
My cousin’s last name is Kosecki and I thought their couple hashtag, #doskoseckis, was hilarious and clever. I wanted to find a way to incorporate it into the couple’s shower decor.
I asked Brent if he could make me a hashtag sign and let’s just say he did not disappoint with this piece.
How cool is this custom made hashtag sign? Brent went big and made a large sign with a wood and concrete base. The letters are white acrylic with a wood drop shadow. It is so dang cool.
I love having photo booths at parties but since I had never visited the room where we were having the couple’s shower in I was a little worried about the size to make the photo booth. I wanted it to be as big as possible without being in the way.
The photo booth had to go together quickly and had to travel well since we would be assembling it at the venue. We were just about to start making a base for the photo booth when Brent had a genius idea.
We ended up using a heavy duty backdrop banner stand kit. It packs up in a nice bag and seriously comes together in minutes.
I wanted something I could reuse, traveled easily and could be stored efficiently and this was the perfect solution. We hung three sets (six total) of 96″ sheer white curtains from the stand to create the backdrop.
To decorate the backdrop we attached two pieces of faux silk eucalyptus leaves vines and a large rose gold love foil balloon. It was simple and sweet but also sturdy and easy to install and take down.
Brent also made the ring light to attach to the tripod and 3D printed iPhone tripod attachment for the photo booth. These were so awesome because space was very limited there and this was the cleanest photo booth set up we have made to date.
We will be putting together a separate post all about how to create this exact photo booth setup including the app we used to let the couple’s shower guests take the photos themselves.
We wanted large, sturdy photo booth props so we made our own out of wood and mounted them on dowel rods for guests to hold.
The “I’m here for the mimosas” prop was the most selected sign!
How cute are my grandparents? They have been married over 60 years! They are always down for a visit to the photo booth.
Once we started playing the couple’s shower games, we used our Fujifilm INSTAX mobile printer to print the majority of the photo booth photos onto Fujifilm Instax mini instant film.
We spread all the photos out on the bar and then guests loved finding their photo booth photos and taking them with them as an extra souvenir on their way out.
Okay, onto maybe my favorite part the shower and the part that I poured a lot of heart and time into, the couple’s shower game packets!
I designed five different game cards. I printed all the cards on heavy weight 120 lb cover card stock. Trust me when I say, using very heavy card stock is the way to go to get professional quality printed material.
The cards were held together with kraft paper sleeves that I made. I printed the couple’s logo I designed on scallop round labels and placed the stickers on the kraft sleeve.
We used wooden mini chalkboard signs for the place cards. Shout out to my mom for her amazing handwriting skills. She wrote out all the names for us.
A few of the games required writing so we attached personalized pencils, again with their funny couple’s hashtag, to the place card with twine.
The first game in the packet was “Find a the Guest Bingo. This is a common game played at bridal showers to get people moving around, talking to other guests they do not know, and encourages mingling in a laid back way.
I took this idea and then designed my own version of this game. I would like to note my grandmother was very into this game. She wanted a Bingo bad. The first to yell Bingo won a glass lantern centerpiece.
My favorite cards I designed were these “Who has the Groom?” and “Who has the Bride?” scratch off card game. We wanted a game my grandfather (who is a big fan of scratch offs) would enjoy playing but it turns out these were a hit with everyone!
The one guest who found the bride to be and the one guest who found the groom to be won prizes.
Lucky for me it was almost St. Patrick’s Day so I scooped up these plastic gold coins for guests to use to scratch off the scratch off cards.
My grandparents’ last name is Brennan and my grandfather is Irish so the shamrock coins seemed as a fitting nod to him.
To make the scratch off cards I designed a set of bride cards and a set of groom cards. There was one card with the groom to be’s face and one card with the bride to be’s face. The other cards contained 26 random male celebrity faces and 26 random female celebrity faces.
I printed the cards two to a page on heavy weight 120 lb cover card stock.
I used my paper trimmer to cut each card down to size and used my corner round punch to round the corners.
Finally, I put these 2″ silver round scratch off sticker labels over the faces for guests to scratch off.
The other two game cards I designed included a version of the “Wedding Shoe Game”. We called our game “Guess Who? Lauren or Matthew?”
We listed out 15 questions on the card and had guests guess ahead of time if they though the the bride to be or groom to be was the answer.
The other game card I designed was an original couple’s shower game we came up with based on the couple’s love of travel called “Where in the World are Lauren & Matthew?”. Yes, I made a logo just for this game too.
I made a Google slide presentation that was displayed on the TV during the shower showing photos of the couple. The guests had to write out on their game card the destination the couple was visiting in the photo. We had 12 destinations they had to guess based on photos.
For the “Guess Who Game” I also made these paddles using wooden 8” fan handles with the groom to be and bride to be’s faces.
The couple had not seen the questions and sat back to back while being asked the questions for the first time. They held up the face paddles based on their answer. This is a hilarious game that is entertaining for guests. They were really good sports playing this game!
Once again, I will say that I really enjoyed bringing together all the elements of this spring themed couple’s shower brunch. My aunt and I worked hard to get everything ready and seeing it all come together just as I had envisioned in my head is so much fun for me.
Most of all my goal was to make it a special day for my cousin and his future wife, their friends, and our family.
Thanks again to Brent for supporting my party planning dreams and helping make super cool pieces that have that special Brent touch.

We LOVED getting to help throw a couple’s shower for my cousin and his sweet fiancee. We are happy for them and excited for their wedding coming up in a few months! Congrats Matt and Lauren!
